Awarenessing

“Awarenessing” in the context of jumi (judo mind) means cultivating mindful awareness of the space that connects your body and mind and everything in life.

Awarenessing involves a conscious breathing method in conjunction with open awareness embodiment skills that have been derived from the jumi sequences.

The awarenessing practices are short and simple, yet they may help to reduce stress and anxiety, while promoting energy flow and a sense of clarity.

Awarenessing can be done by people young and old, at any level of health or fitness, and since it does not require any equipment, awarenessing can be done almost anywhere and anytime.

> Awarenessing – basic method
Embodying the state of open awareness.

Awarenessing space
Promotes the embodied experience of your connection to earth and cosmos, and attunement to the space (energy field) that connects you to everything in life!

Awarenessing yin yang
Helps to balance your yin (feminine) and yang (masculine) energies, while promoting awareness of the space (energy field) that connects you to everything in life!

Awarenessing meditations
Simple yet effective ways to access and embody the state of open awareness.

Jumi Tree Breathing techniques
Useful to reduce stress, anxiety, fear, while enhancing your healing potential.

> Grounding exercise – front version
Useful for balancing the body’s chakra energy centres and promoting energy flow throughout the meridians of the body, while aligning with the frequency of Earth.

> Grounding exercise – back version
Useful to alleviate the symptoms of excessive screen time (tunnel awareness) through regaining ‘elasticity’ in your consciousness and reopening the ‘aperture’ of your awareness.

De-stress in 2 minutes (another version of the basic method)
Reduce stress through stretching your awareness ‘muscles’ and overcome the tunnel vision caused by excessive screen time.

Note for Coaches and Open Awareness Facilitators:

In coaching and facilitating, we don’t rely too much on our thinking process, but rather respond with spontaneous reflexivity to cues from the client/student and according to our own intuition. It’s like in martial arts, if you rely on your thinking process, you’ll be flat on your back in no time.

Embodied mindfulness and active receptivity are characteristics of soma centred open awareness – a state that the jumi practices help to cultivate. This is an optimal state to facilitate coaching sessions in, as it helps both coach and client/student to be spontaneously reflexive. Because of their simplicity, the jumi awarenessing practices can be applied both within coaching sessions and/or as exercises to support integration after coaching.

All jumi practices promote spontaneous reflexivity – a useful state in many contexts and when facing a crisis.
